Creating Your Entry

Overview – presenting the very best of your music and yourself
When people come to the site they will often be finding their way to your page through your photo and once there, they will like to know about you and why you’re an artist. If you’ve got good photos and good info, people are more likely to vote for you, but also they’re more likely to follow the band, buy your music or even book you. Try to think of your page not only as a competition entry but also as a prime place to promote you, your band and your music. This is your showcase, be creative and make it the best it can be.
What you Need for your Entry
- You need to be registered on the site. If you’re not already, click here to sign up.
- Postcode/zip code – this will be used to locate you, so if you live in two places or have bands members in different areas, use the postcode for the area where you perform, so promoters can find you and book you. (Unless that would mean you are not eligible for the competition – check out the competition information)
- Byline – About 15-20 words that describes what you’re about and will grab people.
- Paypal email – this is not obligatory, but without it a winner will need to make a request for a cheque payment.
- Music – choose a track which represents you and is the best possible quality.
- Remember, no diss, no hate just talent
- Your sound file must be in mp3 format and should be no larger than 10Mb. You can upload it directly on the entry form
- 3 Photos. – in .jpg or .png format, max size 2Mb. You can crop these to select a certain area, or change the shape on the entry form, but make sure the resolution is good enough. Make sure your images are large enough. The image sizes are 324x363, 638x383 and 298x218
- Take time over your pictures. If they are not of you, then use your album cover, a place you’ve performed or thought about your music, or something else that is important to you. If you haven’t got a camera go to Flickr, and use one from there (check the copyright).
- Remember your photos are like your logo – take a little time with them, get them right and you’ll get many more views/votes on your page.

- Up to 2 additional tracks for Sale or Free download. Mqusic only deducts the cost of the paypal fees, all the rest of the money is forwarded directly to you.
- Biography – this can make the difference between being listened to once and forgotten and someone following you and your music for years.
- Let people in, inform them about who you are, why you perform and how you got to be here. And perhaps most importantly where you are going. Don’t miss the opportunity to create fans out of listeners.
- you can add up to 150 words approx of biography about yourself or your group, perhaps even a review.
- Backstory – This is a video to introduce you as an artist – not so much a music vid but something that communicates who you are or what you’re interested in. Make it creative, make it watchable and people won’t forget you. This should be no more than 2 minutes in length. Don’t bore people, less is more. Format can be .mp4, .avi or .flv, max size 16Mb.
- Social Networking Site – this is a great way not only for people to contact you but also for them to follow you and what you are up to. Simply copy and paste the url into the entry form.
- Web site – If you’ve got one you’ll know what a powerful promotional tool this can be for your creativity. Simply copy and paste the url into the entry form.
